An Unseasonably Warm Day - It's for the Birds!

Let's play in the pool!

Neither rain nor sleet nor...

Enjoying the shower

I think this guy took it in the face!

I miss Chance. Dalton is no fun.

It's been so unseasonably warm, lately, that I thought I'd better get some water on the lawns.

It was nearly 80 degrees in my little mountain town and was in the high 80's "down below." So, I thought I'd better start up the sprinklers, and even filled up and turned on the fountain so the birds could enjoy it.  It certainly didn't stop the locals from hitting the Birdseed Bar, and as a matter of fact, I think they enjoyed it.  I nearly got a photo of a hummingbird zipping through the sprinkler and playing in the water forming on a leaf on a nearby bush....but it happened so fast.  Darn!

The dogs, of course, were sure they would melt if they got even one water drop on them, so in the house they sprinted! Inside, I captured this photo of Scrappy while he was laying at my feet. He has a look about him......

I thought for sure the birds would take off when I turned on the sprinkler. Not a chance. I think they enjoyed the refreshing shower on today's unseasonably warm day.

Wonderful pictures. Thanks for sharing them. I'm jealous of the temps you talked about. :)

I was able to open the windows and air out the house - I'm loving it. But I worry about my peach trees - full bloom. Last year, a late freeze wiped out my entire season - not one peach.

He really is an expressive dog, both in his face and how he acts.

Wow! 80 degrees in February! Clearly they enjoyed the sprinkler. Isn't it funny the big guys don't want to get wet? Java doesn't like mud on her toes. She refuses to go out one door if it's been wet out. She has to out off the porch and keep her feet dry. She can be such a girl!!

Enjoyed your pictures very much. I like the one where the birds eye is right at the circle. 3 I'm always trying to do stuff like that on purpose shooting through the fence etc:)

Hi, Anna. I caught another photo of a bird with the eye directly in the circle which I'll post another time - it wasn't a sprinkler photo.

Scrappy doesn't want to get wet - he heads for cover when I water with the hose (and don't understand why, I've never squirted him), but doesn't mind getting into the mud of there is a hole to be dug! Dalton - he's a big primadonna! No water, and please, no mud!

I can't wait to hose off the porch and water the garden and take sips from the hose and fill the koi pond with fresh water and to put my shorts on and run like a little kid through the sprinkler.

Why is hose water better tasting than practically any other water?! This is crazy for February. I'm usually getting another round of snow.

He really has expressive eyes and yes, they do speak to me. He is really vying with Dalton for attention now that Chance is gone. Before, he was content just to hang with her. Now, he's up a notch on the ladder and is trying to figure it out.

We're all loving the weather, and the birds appreciated the faux rain - we really haven't even had much of that.

Thanks, I was just having fun with the birds in the sprinklers and they seemed to be enjoying it. That Scrappy is such a little ham.

Dang, and I was thinking it was pretty warm here yesterday when it got up into the 40's. Didn't stay that way, got 4 inches of snow last night & don't think it has gotten up into the 20's.

I do not envy you!

It still gets pretty cold at night. But the last couple of days have been lovely - and the birds think so too. Thanks for the visit.

Scrappy: You mean, Mr. Underfoot!

The days are still warm and the birds are loving the fact I've turned on the fountain. Thanks, Leb. Hope the Iggies (Iguanas) are warming up there.

Great pictures Shelby. You have a bunch of sparrows - me too. I think we all do. lols Cute little doggie. It was really warm here (Ks) on Wednesday (about 65) then yesterday it was much cooler and today we're back to a brisk 46. Hopefully that's cool enough to keep the flowers and leaves from blooming too early.

We're still anywhere between 75 - 82 degrees, depending on if you're at my place or down below. We're supposed to cool down over the weekend, but only in to the high 60's. Still cold at night, though!

Tons and tons of sparrows!

My goodness, Shelby! 80 degrees? We had people around here melting today (Friday), and it was only 70-ish. So, right now, outside, it's a pleasant 36 degrees, and tomorrow (Saturday) is supposed to be a nice, cool 58-ish. I really do enjoy Spring, but I would prefer for Spring to actually be in the right season!

Great pictures of the birds, and a long suffering look from Scrappy.

I know we need the winter for the rain and snow.....but I just LOVE the warm weather. Milder here today, also. Probably low 70's. Brrr.

Boy did you nail the look on Scrappy's face!
